Lunch Tracker -- Update #3 -- Ending the Lunch

Alright y'all. Here is one last Lunch Tracker update, and then I'm taking a break from Trump for a long time. I'll come back in a couple of years close to when his term is over and finish it out. But as for now, Trump is now down to 89 points total, which is just enough to end the lunch.

However, keep in mind: should a miracle happen and Trump starts acting like a great leader, as described in 7 Habits, the Bible, the Book of Mormon (for my LDS friends), and the D&C, and if he undoes some of these items and stops all the other bad things yet to come from happening, the lunch would be back on. I probably wouldn't count on it, but I've seen bigger miracles happen, so who knows?

So why the big break? I don't know -- I probably shouldn't waste time explaining myself, but I read something today by a good friend ... comparing American people with the Finnish, and how the Finnish are generally happier. Their secret: they don't waste time arguing, but rather, they sincerely care about other people, and tend to put others above themselves. The Finnish simply enjoy life and live it out to their fullest. And you know what? Sounds good to me. There's just so much more to life, so why waste it all?

I've already delivered my message on Trump, which has definitely been received, and there is nothing else I can do at this time, other than to focus on other parts of my overall mission in life. So, when it comes to Trump, I'm no longer going to engage -- complete stop.

One exception: I do plan to continue the Political Track of my already planned-out "Always Be Better" series, as those videos will be much more about general political topics -- something that I believe will help us in the post-Trump world and help to eventually unify us all.

Okay -- back to the business at hand. I'm going to go quickly through these points, and then I'm done. Today, Trump loses 6 points total.

The Retribution Continues

"Uses presidential power or agencies to go after current or political opponents" 3 pts. total. (1 pt previously taken away.)

"Imprisons at least one prominent political opponent critical of Trump" 5 pts. total. (0 pts previously taken away.)

Here, I'm going to take away 1 point from each of these two items for a total of 2 points. 

Since last I reported, Trump has issued several newer executive orders to go after law firms who had worked on cases against him. He has also named specific people in his executive orders and memos, including one of my heroes: Chris Krebs. His agencies have started arresting opponents: a judge, a mayor, and soon, possibly some House Representatives. I find it ironic that Trump's DOJ has created a "Weaponization Working Group" when I've never seen this amount of government weaponization in my life. And they've only just begun.

The Military on Our Soil?

"Uses active troops against US civilians" 7 pts. total. (0 pts previously taken away.)

Trump loses 1 point today because he has issued an executive order that could allow for the deployment of the "military and national security assets in local jurisdictions" to help fight crime. It does mention "non-lethal capabilities," but it does sound like Stage 1 of our very own storm troopers.

The First Attacks on the Media

"Punishes at least one media outlet through executive branch (suing doesn't count)" 3 pts. total. (0 pts previously taken away.)

Trump loses 1 point today because he has issued an executive order to strip funding from CPB (which in turn funds PBS and NPR). The name of the executive order implies that these news sources are biased, but nothing could be farther from the truth. Anyone who actually listens to NPR knows they present both conservative and liberal ideas -- and they try to do so without the spin.

Privately-run media sources, on the other hand, tend to have much more bias and spin. That's why I believe NPR and PBS have such an important role.

Note: I'm not taking off all 3 points, because NPR/PBS are in a special situation where they do indeed receive governmental funds, and withdrawing these funds are indeed within the realm of Congress.

More Attacks on Transgenders

"LGBTQ protections are lessened" 2 pts. total. (1 pt previously taken away.)

Since I last reported, attacks on transgender people have just gotten worse, including being again banned from military service. And in general, Trump's war on "DEI" and anything that looks like mitigating discrimination has made life tougher on basically anyone who isn't a white Christian male. So, Trump loses another 1 point. And part of me wonders in hindsight why I didn't just delete both points the first time I had reported this.

Yes -- Trump is Making Boo-koo Bucks

"Collects more than $1B from his followers while in office" 1 pt. total. (0 pts previously taken away.)

Trump has already made more than $1B through several different schemes funded almost entirely by his followers. He has even learned how to manipulate the stock market with his announcements, and has helped many of his close associates to get rich from this. Seriously -- I've never seen this level of corruption and conflicts of interest in any sitting president.

An Urgent Call to Conservatives

 

Hello, this is Mel Windham from the "Always Be Better" series, and today I'm doing a cross post with the Econo-Mel. This is a special edition video -- not part of the usual cycle, but never fear; "Always Be Better" will be back in a couple of weeks. 

Today I'd like to talk to my conservative friends, though all of you are free to listen in. 

I'm going to start back in high school. Around 1986 ... Milton High School, Building 5, an old dilapidated asbestos-ridden building. Social Studies class. We had many discussions, a few films, and we read Orwell's 1984 and Animal Farm. We learned about racism, the rise of Hitler, and other terrible events. And we students talked amongst ourselves, with a little help from the teacher. We wondered: in each of these terrible events, why couldn't people see what was really going on? Why did they allow these bad things to happen? It was very easy for us to agree and resolve that: "We're never going to let this happen. Not on our watch." We could see that it was all wrong, and we learned the signs so that should it ever happen again, we would NOT support it.

If we hone in on the story of Hitler, he had received a lot of help from the public. They ate up his message that Jews were the cause of everything that ailed the country. At first he tried to deport the Jews to Madagascar, but when that failed, he started sending them to concentration camps where millions were killed.

On the most part, Hitler shielded the public with lies. The Jews were being sent to some "resettlements to the east" when in fact they were being sent to their deaths.

And eventually, later, the truths came out. And when everything was said and done, a large portion of the German population was riddled with incredible guilt for what they had allowed. Many of them regretted supporting Hitler, and how it had led to the deaths of millions.

And again comes that question we asked in class: why couldn't the people see what was going on?

In this respect, part of me is actually a little excited, because now I get to witness this same phenomenon in real time. I'm seeing many of the same signs, which are as clear as day to me -- because well, like I said before, we were educated in high school to recognize them, and I didn't skip reading those books designed to help history NOT to repeat itself. And I'm wondering today: why can't the majority of my friends see these signs? Why are they allowing this all to happen? My biggest fear is that when everything is said and done, are you also going to have that same incredible guilt to carry for the rest of your lives, having no way to go back in time and change your past actions?

And that's why I see that now is a turning point -- a last chance, as you will, to help avoid this lifetime of guilt.

And yes -- many of tell me that I have TDS: Trump Derangement Syndrome. That is, no matter how good Trump may be, I'll never be satisfied. He could say oxygen is good, and then I'd suffocate myself. While the GOP is executing solutions, my only goal is to hate Trump.

But the truth is: I don't hate Trump as a person. In fact, most of you already know that I have this strange admiration of the guy. I'm just amazed at how much he gets away with. I wish I could do that. But I'm just having trouble seeing the Emperor's New Clothes. You are all telling me all these things that I'm supposed to be seeing, but all I see is Trump standing there as naked as the day he was born.

Most of you know me: I'm a numbers guy and a strong proponent of the scientific method, which guides my day job every day. And I see the data. I see the logic, and I just don't like what I see. If Trump were actually doing good, he'd have my full support. In fact, that's why I put together my Lunch Tracker. So, that if Trump ends up not being that bad, I will owe a lot of my conservative friends lunch. You know ... scientific method. Prove me wrong, and I'm happy to accept the truth. 

But to be honest, now I don't think the lunch is going to happen. From Day 1 of Trump's second term, I'm beyond devastated with the path he has chosen. In fact I would say that's it's much worse than I had initially imagined. The warning signs could not possibly be any clearer.

You can't see it yet? Well, let me ask you some questions. I'd like for you to examine your own situation today. Are you happy with the way things are right now? I'm not talking about what you think is coming down the pike or what Trump is promising you, but what is actually happening today. Are you better off now than you were 10 years ago? Has your grocery bill gone down yet? How much money have you given to Trump? And what has Trump done for you in return? Are you richer? Are you prospering?

And now for the kicker: How long has it been that Trump has been promising these good things and good times? How much longer are you going to wait? I personally think that Trump is a conman who is really good at promising things, but not so good at delivering. It's always just around the corner.

Let me show you something. I took some Dow Jones data from FRED, the Federal Reserve of St. Louis, and I indexed the levels to Inauguration Day for the last three presidents. Trump 1.0, Biden, and Trump 2.0. And I looked at the first 70 days. In both 2017, 2021, the stock market enjoyed around 5% growth over the first 70 days. However look at Trump 2.0 ... the Dow Jones has lost over 5% of its value and it's still going down. Currently the Atlanta Reserve is forecasting negative GDP growth for 2025Q1.

Usually, the sitting president doesn't really affect how the stock market is doing, but in this case, we know what's driving the downturn, and yes ... it is Trump -- the tariffs that he's installed and the ones he's threatening. It's the instability that he is causing, the job loss that he's directly affecting, pain points in government office that are now woefully understaffed and unable to meet our current demands of their services. And he's showing the rest of the world that they can no longer rely on us. It's already taking a toll on our economy, and it's only beginning.

And remember -- why did Trump win? Because it came down to a lot of independent voters who thought that he would be better for the economy. But I ask you now: do you think things are going to turn around any time soon?

Think about this. What would a 50% tariff on oil do to our gas prices? The national average price right now is around $3. It may take a couple of months, as gas stations work through their current inventory, but eventually -- if we add 50%, it's going to get up to $4.50. What is that going to your current situation and your grocery bill?

And I've seen what Fox News is reporting ... lots of nice spin about the good things that Trump is doing, but they are silent on the many stories going around about thousands, and possibly millions of people who are already starting to hurt because of decisions that have been made these last 70 days: farmers, sick people who can no longer obtain needed medicines, innocent people who had been here LEGALLY deported without due process, signed contracts that are now null and void, and so on.

You're missing these stories, because Trump tells you not to listen to them. He talks about the "Lamestream Media" and their liberal bias. But what he doesn't tell you is that these outlets are among the last remaining ones who actually check their sources and still hold to fundamental journalistic principles. Trump knows that if you listen to them, you would learn the truth, and he would lose his power over all of us.

And I try to share these stories. Some people end up listening, but most of them resist. They dismiss it as liberal lies or fake news. Or they say they'll get around to looking at it, but they never find the time. And remember those danger signs I told you about that we learned in high school? Well -- you're not seeing them, because you're doing exactly what Trump wants you to do: avoiding those outlets that would reveal what he's actually doing.

And I know -- many of you tell me that I'm the one brainwashed, and how everything I say sounds liberal. But the thing is, I'm not a Democrat. I've been there, done that. I'm also not a Republican. Been there, done that. I just got tired of all the brainwashing they both pour on us. I still despise the Democrats and the strange things they're doing right now. I kid you not ... just a couple of days ago, one liberal told me how much of a Trump-supporting tool I was. Yeah -- to them, I sound conservative.

Look -- I'm just a human being, just trying to do the best I can. Now that I belong to no party, I feel much more free and able to see these things. While many of you are sticking to conservative outlets, I'm considering stories from all kinds of news sources, and I try my best to remove bias from both sides so I can get down to the Truth. And that's why I work so hard to share what I'm witnessing. Because, if I'm right -- things are going to get worse, and then you will realize too late what was allowed.

But, giving you the benefit of the doubt, what if you all turn out to be right? What happens to me, then? Well -- nothing. Because as you say, I'll be so happy being prosperous and successful. I mean really -- if you're right, then why should you be angry with me right now? If things are going to work out, then hooray for all of us. I'll be happy to eat some humble pie.

But I know. You're all angry, because that's how Trump works. He wants you all to be angry. He says he wants to unite us all, but how many times each day does he give you reasons to be angry at the Democrats. Do you find it strange that the Dems are always wrong? That they can do no good? That the world would be better without them? If they said oxygen was good, would y'all suffocate yourselves? Do y'all have DDS?

Sorry if I'm pushing these things a little far, here. I realize that it's not your fault. Trump wants you to be angry, because that's how he keeps control over you.

For me, as I said a couple of weeks ago, the first warning sign was in late 2015 when Trump started using Mexicans and Muslims to rile up the masses, just like Hitler used the Jews. Remember how Hitler said the Jews were the cause of everyone's ills? Does this sound familiar? Mexicans are sending their worst -- prisoners and rapists? They're the cause of much of our violent crime? They even spread sickness? They're overrunning our hospitals and social services? They're taking our jobs? These are EXACTLY the same things Hitler said about the Jews. I recognized this and I got myself out of Dodge. I left the GOP for good.

But then when Trump went through his first term, we had survived. Sure, he tried to push his most undesirable policies, but Constitutional checks and balances kicked in, and things didn't turn out as bad as I would have thought. He ended up NOT being Hitler, and I was very grateful and I got to relax for four years.

But this second time around is different. I would like you to consider the following ...

Why is Trump calling for the impeachment of judges who are ruling against his executive orders? Judicial review has been the law of the land since 1803 -- a very important Constitutional check and balance against overreaching executive orders. If you don't think judges should be stopping Trump let me ask you: were you okay with judges stopping Biden's executive orders on student debt forgiveness?

Why is Musk is paying money to US representatives to impeach judges who are ruling against Trump? Is this not a major conflict of interest and a total disregard of the Constitution?

Do you find it weird that Trump wrote a couple of executive orders targeting specific law firms that had participated in lawsuits against him and his interests? The language in these executive orders goes as far as to mention their "weaponization of government and the abuse of law enforcement against political opponents." But in singling out these law firms, isn't Trump actually weaponizing executive orders against his political opponents?

Have you taken a look at the people Trump has pardoned? There are the J6 protestors who showed their support to Trump. And most of the others tend to be masters of fraud -- but only those who supported Trump.

And have you wondered why Trump pushes cryptocurrency, when it is a major source of money laundering and fraud? It's also a haven of Ponzi schemes that promise high value, but then rob many poor people of their life savings.

What about Trump trying to get people to buy Teslas? Practically running a 30-minute commercial for Musk in the White House front yard? Does this not scream conflict of interest?

What about all the other billionaires Trump has picked to work for him, who all stand to profit quite nicely from their posts?

Do you find it strange that Elon Musk is trying to replace a lot of government workers and contracts with his own employees and companies? Isn't this a major conflict of interest in which he can unfairly enrich himself with Trump's help?

If Musk is so concerned about efficiency, why would he gut 18F, which had made great strides over the past few years in the area of efficiency, and which was about to expand?

Why is Musk giving people a chance to win $1mm each for voting in the Wisconsin judicial race? Musk has a lot invested in this because of a lawsuit against Tesla. This may be normal among corporations, but as a government official, it's a huge conflict of interest.

Do you not see a pattern of corruption and massive conflicts of interest in all of this? And how almost everything Trump does has the only goal of increasing the ability for him and his friends to commit fraud, make lots of money, grab much more power, and all on our backs? For those of you that know this term, doesn't this sound like the very definition of a Gadianton Robber?

Do you not find it strange that Trump has declared emergencies where none really exist? Why is there an energy emergency when we've been a net exporter of primary energy for the last several years? Why is he invoking the Alien Enemies Act when we aren't at war with anyone?

And did you know that Trump has stopped all refugees from entering the US except for South African white people who aren't really under persecution? Does that remind you of anyone?

Why is Trump trying to deport many Venezuelans, the majority of whom came here legally through the Temporary Protected Status program? Fox News doesn't tell you that they all filled out the required paperwork, and that they were invited to come here to the US to seek refuge away from the troubles in their home country.

And what about Trump trying to deny them due process and access to their lawyers, rights that are specifically guaranteed by the 14th Amendment to ANY PERSON. How can the guilt of a person be established without due process? Did you hear Marco Rubio announce that the majority of those hurriedly rushed to El Salvador weren't necessarily members of Tren de Aragua? And officials have also admitted to deporting a perfectly legal alien due to a "typographical error" and they're unable to extract these people from the Salvadorian prisons? Is this acceptable? Are you okay with the testimonies of refugees and innocents rising up against Trump?

Why are we torturing tourists and visitors who come to our country? Not just Hispanics, but Canadians and Europeans -- you know, our allies?

Why has international travel into the US dropped like a rock? Why is Canada talking as if an era of friendship and cooperation with the US has come to an end? Why is Europe currently building up a joint army?

Why is Trump trying to take over Greenland, Canada, and the Panama Canal? The arguments he's using to support these ideas are not too dissimilar to what Hitler had said in his initial land grabs.

If Trump were so concerned about merit over DEI, why would he fire so many people related to DEI without any consideration at all to their own merits, skills, competencies, and achievements? Do you happen to know how many discrimination lawsuits have arisen from these firings, and would you like to know that there's now a class action lawsuit?

Related: why would Trump replace a perfectly fine and competent black Joint Chief of Staff with a less-qualified three-star general -- someone who needed special permission to fill the role?

And have you noticed that Truth Social stock is falling fast even though its leader is president now? Do you really think that a man who has had so many failed ventures can successfully bring our world to prosperity? Keep in mind that his only successes have been real estate ventures and the Apprentice show.

When other countries stop buying our products and we can't afford to buy theirs because of tariffs, how do you think our country is going to prosper?

Did you know that because we've ending promised aid payments, millions of people will no longer be able to obtain their medicines? They could either die, or another country such as China could swoop in to provide aid in our stead and build their own influence and power while we grow weaker.

I could continue on about more of these signs -- there are so many, but I do need to come to an end. I challenge you to just look and see what's out there. I think you would be shocked to learn what Fox News isn't telling you, while the rest of the world more than knows what's happening. I think you'd be shocked to hear what foreigners are telling Americans as they travel abroad. Did you know that some of our tourists try to pretend they're Canadian?

And gosh darn it. Foreign entities want us to fight each other: American vs. American. Because the weaker we get, the stronger they get. Aren't we better than this? It's not too late. We could work together and become that great nation we once were ... united and strong.

And just so you know, if I'm right, I'm taking a major risk here, painting a big red X on my back. I realize that eventually, this video could very well put me on a plane to El Salvador. Hey -- maybe I'll get a tattoo out of it.

But why am I doing this? Because a couple of days ago, I was troubled -- like I had forgotten to do something, or something majorly bad was about to happen. I was losing sleep over it, and even my dreams were haunting me. And it wasn't until I came up with the idea to do this video that I was finally able to get back to sleep. I'm supposed to do this, but honestly, I don't know why. Most of my efforts are usually ignored, but perhaps this video will reach a few of you. Or at least create enough curiosity to bite the bullet and actually check out those "Lamestream Media" stories that the vast majority of the rest of the world is reading.

Look -- you guys are great, and I love y'all. I worry about you. But if I'm right, when everything is said and done, I won't be able to do anything at all to help remove your guilt. That will all be on you. I will sympathize and still be your friend, and hey -- it's only because of this that I'm trying one last time to help you rip off that band-aid now. It's not too late. With enough public opinion turned against Trump, he can be stopped, and we can get our country back. We could return back to normal, because after all, isn't that what we all desire?

I'd also like for all you to know that I'm doing great. I haven't given any money to Trump, nor to Biden, nor to any other politician. Because that's my money, and I'm entirely free. My conscious is clear.

And yes -- Trump 2025 is that event that we were warned about in high school. If you were serious when you had joined me in saying that we'd stop this from ever happening, then the time is now. The choice is yours.

Lunch Tracker -- Update #2 -- Goodbye to Independence

Yes -- it's time for another Lunch Tracker update. Today, Trump loses another point.

But first, I need to make something perfectly clear. I love my conservative friends. I understand them and their concerns. Most of them are good people who know how much I despise Trump, but still keep me around. They know that I do not condemn them because of the way they voted. (After all, when did voting ever become a sin?)

Honestly, I want this lunch to happen, because I want to be wrong. Four years from now, I want to be surrounded by my friends at a big steak dinner, and have fun. I think I'd like a cake with my prophecies written on it, so we can all enjoy eating my words. And everyone can join the chorus to tell me how wrong I've been. 

So, every time I deduct points, it’s a sad occasion. Not only because it gets us closer to no lunch, but also because it means we're all screwed.

Today, even after the very interesting first few weeks of Trump's presidency, my friends invite me to have patience -- that it will all make sense later -- that everyone will see and be happy.

It's like a political cartoon that I can seem to find and share, but I can describe it. And a little Gemini can help fill the blanks.Imagine a two-paned cartoon. The idea is that a lot of people are scared and running every which way, yelling “Watch out!” But once things are said and done, we will happily follow, and it will make a lot more sense. Like my friends say -- we'll all be prosperous and happy. All racism and hate will be gone, and well ... I would have no problem affording several steak dinners.

But I remain skeptical. In fact, at this point of time, I believe it is much worse than I had originally feared. I think it would take a miracle for the lunch to happen, but so far it's still on.

So, okay ... who's ready to deduct a point?

Independence Lost

"Dismantles or lessens the independence of five or more federal agencies" -- 1 point total.

July 4, 1776. That's when our country declared independence. It would take another 12 years to develop our Constitution, which would enshrine that same independence in a Bill of Rights and a series of checks and balances. And next year, in 2026, we will celebrate our 250th anniversary of independence. Will we still have our independence? Rome had lasted for almost 1000 years. Can we beat a quarter of that length of time?

In mid-February, Trump issued two executive orders: Ensuring Accountability for All Agencies and Ensuring Lawful Governance and Implementing the President's "DOGE" Deregulatory Initiative. (BTW, does anyone else notice that the order numbers do not appear anywhere on these official websites? How can we cross-reference these guys? I digress.)

These two executive orders working together seek to do exactly what I had feared -- to dismantle or lessen the independence of agencies. Basically Trump is declaring that he has the utmost and unquestionable authority to do whatever he pleases under the executive branch. He claims it as a safeguard guaranteed by the Constitution: a separation of powers between the branches. Thus, he claims the right to control the entire executive branch and to supervise the regulations issuing from said agencies. Each of these independent agencies must now be subjected to supervision and accountability.

He further claims that the President and AG (subject to the President's supervision and control) shall provide authoritative interpretations of law for the executive branch.

In one sense, Trump is correct. According to the Constitution, the President is supposed to supervise the executive branch. He is, after all, their leader. And in a sense, these executive orders are not illegal. It is one of the powers given to the President by the Constitution.

However, the content of many of Trump's executive orders may be illegal or unconstitutional, including the two listed above. For example, Trump seems to be confusing the roles of the different branches, their separations, and their checks and balances.

It is the Judicial Branch that is supposed to interpret laws. It's rather the job of the Executive Branch to execute the law. Sure, the very act of executing may require the action of interpreting, but the Judicial Branch has the ultimate say in interpretations -- it is their Constitutionally-given check on the other two branches.

Also, it's not usually the role of the Executive Branch to issue regulations and laws, but rather ... you guessed it ... the Legislative Branch. That second executive order listed above is thus a bit problematic, because most of those regulations were passed by Congress. So, technically the Executive Branch must enforce said laws until Congress decides to do away with them. And yes ... corollary: the vast majority of what Trump and DOGE are doing right now are technically illegal. But if the checks and balances don't kick in, then it's ... well ... the other Branches had their chance, so it implicitly becomes legal. Just think back to past presidents and how many of their executive orders were stopped by judges.

I'm sure some of you may be thinking ... these are just technicalities. Nobody cares if the ends justify the means. But no -- that's what the Constitution gave to us for protection from doing really stupid things. If we're just going to ignore the Constitution, then what good is our country?

Or said differently: if Trump is such a great leader, why can't he accomplish all these great tasks while staying within the boundaries that the Constitution has set? Why does he have to feel like he must threaten judges with impeachment who try to stop him? Why does he give Congress orders to stand down and let him just do these things?

My conservative friends tell me repeatedly how Trump is playing chess and everyone else is 10 moves behind. And I'm like -- a chess player at least sticks to the rules. I would further expect a chess player to be able to successfully run a business (can anyone name any of Trump's ventures that has succeeded?) Also I would expect a chess player to know the difference between “raw earth” and “rare earth.” But perhaps that’s just me. To me, it looks like he’s playing Chutes and Ladders, and he keeps going up the chutes. (But I digress again …)

Let's bring this back to independence ... why do I care about this so much? Well -- I did only give this item 1 point, so maybe not as important as other items? But then again, if we lose independence, some of my bigger items will happen next. It's like that tiny door that lets in a flood of water that sinks the Titanic. (That was a door -- wasn't it?)

What does independence give us? Protection! If Trump receives all the powers he thinks he should have, and he's watching over the independent agencies, and he's controlling the judges and Congress ... then who watches over the President? What's to stop him from becoming king?

Let’s compare this with some concepts from the book 1984. Independence protects us from the four Ministries…

Ministry of Truth: Here, the leaders control the flow of information. They decide what is true. This is where Winston worked, where he mostly scrubbed old documents to reflect the new Truths. But the truth of these truths, as we can see from reading the book, is that these truths are lies … showing the strange juxtaposition of two opposites: Truth and Lies.

And Trump already has this. It's not lost on me that his social media outlet is called "Truth" Social. And each post is a "truth." Trump repeatedly denounces the independent press -- calls them the lamestream media. He has largely kicked them out of the White House, and ... well ... my conservative friends despise going to those news sources. Trump tells them not to go there. I don't know how many times I've tried to show very clear evidence to my friends, and they simply won't click on the link because ... they're told not to. And in this way, Trump has already succeeding in controlling his base.

He is further trying to sue media outlets that cross him, and may even take more official actions (but hasn't yet -- which is why I haven't deducted any points on that item). The truth is: he doesn't want y'all to know the truth. Because if the general people understood what he's doing, he'd lose all his power.

Even if you disagree with me, I hope you at least see that an independent press is one important protection against any Ministry of Truth.

Ministry of Peace: Trump isn't fooling me here. He isn't looking for peace. Rather, he's looking for piece. A piece of Panama. A piece of Denmark (Greenland). A piece of the British Commonwealth (Canada). A piece of Gaza.

In 1984, this Ministry was all about war. Again -- the juxtaposition of two opposites: War and Peace.

 

And again, independence can help us to avoid these issues. The Constitution gives Congress the sole power to declare war. This was an intentional stopgap to avoid a "king" from taking over other countries alone.

Ministry of Love: This ministry is all about controlling the will of the people. Winston gets to visit this place, gets tortured, so that in the end he could declare "I love Big Brother."

I don't think we have anything like this quite yet, and yes -- because we're protected by laws passed by Congress (independence). Though, Trump often uses HATE and anger to control his people and thus direct their will. It's not quite torture, but the results seem to be the same. Ask his base, and they'll proclaim quite loudly that they "love Trump." Such devotion to one man is often off-putting. And at the same time, it does seem that specific groups are being singled out, tortured, and threatened in all of this, which is the MAIN CLUE to me that -- no -- the bad fruits of Trump are not indicative of any good will he may actually have. (How can EVERYONE be happy and prosperous when SOME are suffering direct from Trump's actions?)

Ministry of Plenty: This is a strange one, whose job is to convince people there is plenty when in fact there is scarcity (or vice-versa). It sounds strange on paper -- in one instance, chocolate rations are reduced, but the announcement says, "We are raising the chocolate rations to X" and the people cheer -- except for Winston, of course, who can see right through it.

And I see it happening today to a small degree in an unofficial capacity. During Biden's term when we actually had an excess of plenty and energy independence (we produced more primary energy than we consumed over the past 6 years, and broke oil production records the last 2 years), Trump had his people believe that "Bidenflation" was destroying our economy and that only Trump could save us, drop prices and stop inflation. This tactic was so successful it easily won Trump the election.

But now a little more than a month into Trump's 2nd term, prices haven't dropped. Gas prices have fluctuated around even since 1/20, and inflation has started to rise again. Stock markets have fallen somewhat due to tariff and other concerns, and are now UNDER where there were on 1/20. And a lot more people are losing their jobs. We’re even looking at NEGATIVE GDP growth for 1Q2025.

Even with all this going on, my conservative friends are posting strange rosy pictures. One of them says: "It was never about lower prices, but rather stopping DEI, etc." (Deflection.) Another person posts: "I got gas at this random gas station for $2.40. Thank you Trump!" And I just have to think: this strange Ministry of Plenty stuff must be coming from Truth Social and bots trying to deceive us.

Again, an independent press could protect us from this nonsense. Stats are readily available for all to study for themselves.

Conclusion

A lot of my conservative friends champion what Trump (and Musk) are doing. Gaining efficiencies. Doing away with fraud. Reducing the federal workforce. Saving money -- we might even get bonus checks from the savings! Getting rid of regulations so we can all prosper and live more freely. Trump only wants peace and prosperity and it's necessary for him to bypass all these annoying Constitutional stopgaps in order for him to accomplish his goals.

But if you would oblige me for a moment, I would like to paint a different picture. Trump does have a plan, but it's not about us. Rather, it's all about himself. He desires power, and he doesn't want anyone to stop him. That's why he's reducing the federal workforce (less people to get in his way). That's why he's taking away the independence of agencies underneath him (which independence was given by Congress through laws). That's why he firing independent watchdogs. Because with no one overseeing him, he can do whatever he wants. That's why he wants the Judicial Branch out of the way -- so he can own them and earn the right to interpret law. And he also wants to own Congress so they can pass his laws -- or stay out the way as he breaks their laws. So, as he owns the judges and the law, then ... yes, my LDS friends ... he really is a Gadianton Robber. Everything he's doing these past few weeks has been done with the sole goal of increasing his ability to corrupt EVERYTHING.

Trump claims that he's draining the swamp, but he is the swamp. He claims that he's destroying corruption, but he's filled his cabinet with people who are taking advantage ... such as Musk trying to cancel existing contracts so that his own private business can take over. Trump is trying to install cryptocurrency, a haven of corruption and Ponzi schemes that have already hurt many poor people, and has enabled much money-laundering and drug trafficking.

And lastly, Trump does not want our independence. He wants to have full control over ALL of us.

Sure -- I could be wrong here, but at least I can let you think about this possible other view. To me, it can't be more than clear -- I think the evidence all speaks for itself, and it's all there for anyone to see ... it's always been there.

Lunch Tracker -- Update #1 -- Broken Promises

Here we are -- three and a half weeks into Trump's second term, and wow! Politically, these weeks have been my most difficult and depressing weeks in my entire life. Several of my conservative friends are even trying to cheer me up, as if understanding what I'm going through.

And it's not because I "lost," but because -- well -- the past weeks have been MUCH worse than I had imagined possible. Whatever hope I had held previously that Trump would do the right thing is basically gone. I had thought he would go slow while staying within the confines of the Constitution. But no, rather, he's trying to do EVERYTHING through executive orders and other "quiet" orders through the executive branch, often through individuals who have not been vetted by the Senate. 

Trump has been breaking tens or possibly hundreds of laws passed by Congress and has basically ordered them to stand down with no bellyaching. The judicial branch is kicking in with their checks and balances, but Trump is starting to ignore them as well, and has even threatened them for trying to stop him.

And in short: MANY broken promises. Not the promises Trump had made to his base, but rather the promises made by Congress and previous administrations to millions of Americans and also other countries. Signed contracts that are now being broken. Refugees being stranded. Farms being shut down. Many jobs lost. Promised payments drying up. And ... inflation ticking back up.

So, today I start deducting points. And as I said before, I will only deduct points for things that I had predicted. Today, Trump will lose 4 points total, and each of these fall under the same theme: Broken Promises.

Refugees Not Wanted

"100,000 LEGAL non-citizens are deported in any 12-month period" -- 3 pts. total.

Here, I invite you to read the story of Carlos, who is a Venezuelan man who was invited to come to the US as a refugee, LEGALLY, and who is currently in the process of being deported even though he has no criminal record, nor any evidence that he had done anything wrong. A short summary of this article:

• These Venezuelans came to the US through a Temporary Protected Status, which allows the migrant to stay in the country legally for a couple of years while they work out next moves. (They are considered to be non-citizens.)
• Carlos applied to this program last year using the CBP One mobile app.
• At this stage, ICE claims that they are only deporting criminals at this time.
• Carlos was arrested on Jan. 26, but not his parents.
• There was no warrant.
• The officers claimed that Carlos had appeared in a video with firearms and drugs, but then refused to produce said video.
• Independent researchers have been unable to find any criminal record on Carlos, or the existence of said video.
• Carlos' mom and dad actually supported the idea of deporting Venezuelans who were committing crimes in the US, but were taken by surprise when they came for their son.
• NBC reports that 48 percent of the Venezuelans recently deported did not have any criminal records.
• The parents have no idea when they'll see their son again, and wonder when they'll be next.
• When Karoline Leavitt was asked how many of these deported had criminal records she replied: "All of them, because they illegally broke our nation's laws, and, therefore, they are criminals, as far as this administration goes."

While it can be shown on a case-by-case basis that nearly half of these deported migrants have no criminal record, I can only interpret Leavitt's statement as referring to them coming into our country "illegally." But that's the thing. These people were INVITED. The United States of America made a promise to them. These refugees went through the legal process. They did everything they were asked. They did NOTHING wrong. They are LEGAL. Trump can't retroactively do take-backsies and suddenly say they came in illegally.

Out of all the items discussed in my update today, this one hurts me the most. If these people are shipped back to Venezuela where hunger and unrest are still rampant, and with an unjust ruler who refuses to abdicate to the rightful winner, we'd be sending these refugees back into the danger zone to be punished, jailed, or even executed. Also, it upsets me that people like Carlos aren't being extended the usual due process. Carlos and his family requested to see the incriminating video, and the officials had refused. Does the video really exist? And I notice that many don't seem to realize, or simply don't want to know, that nearly half of these deportations are not criminals. Many also seem to not be aware of all the other stories of stranded refugees, separated families, and people punished even though they had followed the rules.

What Climate Change?

"Pulls us out of climate change agreements" -- 1 point total.

In his first day of office, Trump signed an executive order to pull us out of the Paris Accords. (Section 3-a.) This doesn't go into effect immediately, as first, our ambassador to the UN needs to communicate our intentions to the UN, and then the process could take up a year. But for all intents and purposes, I'm going to consider this a done deal.

Why is this bad? Because climate change is behind most of our recent natural disasters. In the past few years, both frequency and severity in disasters have increased, and there are no signs of stopping in 2025. Among actuaries (insurance companies) there isn't even any debate on whether climate change exists. That's because these companies are paying a LOT of money to cover these disasters, and why your insurance rates are increasing, and why more homes are being dropped from coverage.

Trump has further indicated that there will be no more approved development of wind turbines and solar farms, even though renewables account for 8% of our total primary energy production -- a major contributor to our being net exporters of total primary energy over the past 6 years. Plus, in oil alone, we've broken our own records both in 2023 and 2024 in oil production.

Yet, Trump is using an "Energy Emergency" to bring this all to nonsense to pass. Yeah -- when was the last time you saw an "emergency" in anything where we already had plenty? And Trump thinks he can eek out more production when we're already at a comfortable equilibrium point? Good luck!

Oh -- and fun fact. When it comes to highest CO2 emissions per capita, the US currently ranks 14th at 14.21, while China ranks 24th at 8.89. China may be the heaviest polluter overall, but they got a lot of people. The only countries that rank higher than the US are Canada, Australia, and a collection of Middle East countries. So -- are we doing our part? What Trump is planning to do and NOT do is irresponsible.

It reminds me of one of my favorite quotes from Babylon 5: Analyze the problem, choose whichever strategy makes least sense, and then do it.

Sorry, Transgender People

"LGBTQ protections are lessened" -- 2 pts. total.

As part of Trump's war on DEI, transgender people have taken an unproportionate hit, with extra genders removed from forms. Also, federal websites have revised ALL references to LGBTQI+ to be simply LGB. (Sometimes, Q still appears.)

All of my LGBTQ+ friends are terrified and worried about what comes next.

In general, this war on DEI has saddened me greatly. What most conservatives don't seem to realize is that DEI is NOT Affirmative Action. And it is NOT hiring an unqualified minority over a more qualified white guy. Rather -- as one friend explained to me, DEI is more about seeking out minorities who are actually MORE qualified than another white guy under consideration.

I see this war on DEI for what it really is. Here's a hint. The Army is deciding to no longer reach out to black schools and events for recruiting. They've done away with Black History celebrations and even -- get this -- Holocaust Remembrance Day.

Don't see it yet? Well -- consider this. While Trump calls for us to consider people's merits and talents, he fired people just for running DEI initiatives, and Trump also called for fellow federal workers to tattle on those who were doing it. These people were fired without ANY REGARD to their MERITS or TALENTS. Imagine the black guy being asked to run a resource group at work. Gone -- even though he had good people and leadership skills. Is it starting to sink in?

And if you still don't see it, perhaps this joke I've created will help. We all know what "DEI Hiring" is supposed to be, but what do you call a "DEI Firing"? Yep -- that's right. Discrimination. And believe me -- those lawsuits are happening right now, and I don't think they're going to lose. Don't believe me? You don't have to -- you can look it up for yourselves when no one is looking.

Retribution Time

"Uses presidential power or agencies to go after current or political opponents" -- 3 pts total.

On the most part, Trump has not gone after the big ones (the ones who are supposedly protected by Biden pardons and Romney, who isn't). But Trump has indeed gone after top FBI employees (through the DOJ) who had worked on the cases against him, and has ordered a investigation of up to 1,500 rank and file employees who were assigned to the cases. Though, recently, a top DOJ official has clarified that agents who "simply followed orders and carried out their duties in an ethical manner" will not be fired -- supposedly. (How are they going to determine which ones were acting "with corrupt or partisan intent"?)

I understand the concern of "they won't be loyal to me" in the higher ranks, but if it becomes more of a personal vendetta, it'll be exactly what I was concerned about. (If it weren't personal, why would he even need to order investigations of the rank-and-file employees?) And should I say it again ... more people fired with regard to their MERITS or TALENTS? Anybody ever wonder what happens when competent people are fired in high places?

Other Items -- Negative Outlook

I'm watching Trump in other areas (such as Federal Agencies), but I'm not ready yet to deduct more points just yet. If you think I've missed something, let me know. I'm trying to be purposefully picky, though.

Summary

With 4 points being deducted today, this brings Trump's score to 96. This is still above tolerance, so as per the rules of this experiment, I still owe lunch in 4 years.

Biden -- Looking Back

Biden has finished his term, and now it's time to take a look back. I try to do this with all presidents: a look ahead, and a look back to see how close I got. As a reminder, here is my look-ahead for Biden from four years ago.

(Note: I'm counting my Predictions from last year as Trump's look-ahead.)

Let's see. On Biden ... 

What did I get right?

Biden did live till the end of his term, though he certainly got tired near the end. 

Biden undid a lot of Trump initiatives.

He passed a law that increased taxes on corporations -- a 15% minimum alternative tax.

I believe a watered-down version of Biden's initial environmental program was passed in the ill-named "Inflation Reduction" Act.

Democrats held on to the Senate.

Biden did end up being terrible in uniting people.

What did I get wrong?

Breaking his promise, Biden did run for a second term. 

Biden did not get a law passed that would increase income taxes for individuals earning above $400k -- except for possibly some Trump tax cuts that might have expired. 

He did not reinstitute the individual mandate penalty for Obamacare (kept it at $0).

Democrats did not hold on to the House at midterms.

Independents evidently did not like what Biden had accomplished.

We did not have a recession, technically.

Four years later, we have not yet been unified.

My biggest disappointments

Biden did have his share of big mistakes. He botched the Afghanistan withdrawal. He botched his attempts to unify when he attacked "MAGA Republicans." He failed to win over conservatives, and instead seemed to push more people away.

My biggest disappointment overall was: well -- we just hardly ever saw him. And when we did, he failed to reach people. I know a lot of this was due to his stuttering (something I totally understand, BTW -- when the brain moves faster than the mouth). But also, I think his staff was a little too much protective over his public appearances -- fearing that any goofiness would only give hilarious sound bites and clips out of context to further destroy his credibility. Ironically, not seeing him regularly only increased the image that he was unfit for office.

With Covid, I think Biden missed a golden opportunity -- as I mentioned before: giving Trump credit for the vaccines, and praising his contributions would have convinced a lot more conservatives to get the "Trump" vaccine, which could have helped save at least another 200,000 lives predominantly in red states, counties, and cities.

Biden almost never stood up for himself -- never took credit for some of the conservative policies he helped put into place -- he was just terrible at explaining why things were what they were.

He was way too lenient on immigration until the very last year when he clamped down hard.

I think he should have kept his promise NOT to run for a second term. Though, I think Trump would have won anyway.

My biggest satisfactions

By far, my main reason for voting Biden in 2020 was to get a four-year respite from Trump. (Though, I had thought it would have destroyed his political career, and he would have gone away, but that didn't happen.) Either way, Biden did give us those four years -- a time for healing and rest. It was actually nice to go a whole day without hearing anything or anyone talking about the president. It was like I could live out my life in peace. Well -- kind of -- Trump still wouldn't go away.

I know my conservative friends will disagree with me on this, but I'm a freakin' economist type. Biden did well NOT to disrupt our economic recovery from Covid more than he had to.

To demonstrate what I'm talking about, as early as February 2020, many of us math types had put together models predicting the effects of Covid to the economy and also the resulting recovery. We knew that it would be high inflation and short lived as everyone got back to work. And that's basically what happened.

The Covid recovery packages did seem to have a small and short adverse effect on US inflation, but on the most part, we tracked along with the rest of the richer countries. Ever since mid-2022, our inflation rate has been nearly equal to or less than Europe's. And our GDP overall has fared well in comparison. So while the whole world has been reeling from this recovery period, we've been coming out ahead of others by a small amount, and I believe Biden did help give us a noticeable edge. The alternative GOP narrative of Bidenflation is really a big obfuscation of reality by intentionally ignoring what's going on in other countries in an attempt to try and place all blame on Biden for all of our woes (a tactic that actually enjoyed large returns for the Party -- though what's going to happen when prices don't come down in a year?)

So, what did Biden do? He pretty much stayed out of the way. He didn't pressure the Federal Reserve to raise or lower interest rates, and basically let them do their job independently. He didn't do what Hungary's Orbán did, which was pressuring the federal bank, which then caused 30%+ inflation in his country. (The same thing Trump is trying to do right now.)

Biden also did -- I think -- increase the number of jobs substantially with some of his initiatives. I know he takes credit for 14 million or more new jobs. And yes -- it's very disingenuous, as we all know (liberals and conservatives alike) that the vast majority of those jobs were naturally coming back in the recovery after Covid19. But I will say in his defense: he didn't do anything to slow down that return of new jobs. In contrast, it took Obama nearly his full eight years to get jobs back to what they were after the 2007-8 financial disaster. And yes -- I believe Biden does deserve credit for some of the new jobs on top of the Covid19-returning jobs.

In the area of energy -- yeah -- get ready for this one -- you may be surprised that under Biden, we've actually INCREASED oil production ... breaking records in 2023, and possibly also in 2024. Also, you may not realize that in terms of Total Primary Energy, the US has produced MORE than they have used for the past five or so years -- mainly with the help of fracking/natural gas and an increase in green energy. As such, we've been a net exporter of energy for a few years. If you'd like to learn more, just Google "us total primary energy consumption vs production". 

So, it may come as a surprise to me to hear about an "energy emergency" today, and I totally understand why Biden was trying not to laugh during that section of Trump's inaugural speech. You see -- if production increases too much, prices go down too much, and when producers aren't getting profits, they stop producing -- something we've seen in the past few years already. As a net exporter, we're likely already at a comfortable equilibrium point -- so it'll be interesting to see how this "drill, baby, drill" thing turns out when the producers refuse to "cooperate." But we'll see -- as you can see above, I've been wrong before.

Also -- I was surprised to hear this a couple of days ago, but it turns out that Biden had deported more immigrants than Trump had. Yeah -- part of this was because he said, "Come on in, everyone," but still surprising. You may also be surprised to learn that over 2024, the number of illegal entries and the flow of fentanyl had dropped drastically. Oh -- the GOP knows about this, but they weren't going to alert anyone right before the election. (And Biden/Harris were too dumb to take credit for this in their campaigns.)

And though the GOP wouldn't like to admit it, Biden actually accomplished a lot -- mainly in his first two years when Democrats led both the House and Senate. And during the last two years, which featured the least productive House in decades, Biden was still able to achieve a few more bipartisan surprises -- one that was so successful on immigration that Trump had to order Speaker Johnson to kill it, lest Biden start looking good and accidentally win the presidency again.

Closing Remarks

I suppose I could continue on with my satisfactions, which I feel outweigh my disappointments, but this is enough for now. 

As I've said above, Biden more than satisfied my main reason for voting for him. He stood up to Trump and helped the US to regain some of its strength and confidence back from the rest of the world (who still mostly see our country as bipolar, unpredictable, and unreliable).

Do I feel better off today than I was four years ago? Most definitely, yes -- because in January 2021, I was still locked up at home. 2020 had been the worst year that America had seen in my entire lifetime, the culmination of Trump's incompetence, division, and hate. It was why he lost the election; and then he put us through a bigger hell the last two months of 2020, ending in a violent protest at the Capitol. And only then did he finally relent and allowed the transition to happen.

And finally, this past week has been very difficult for me. I had had some hope that Trump wouldn't turn out so bad, but so far he has only confirmed my worst fears. Just less than one week into this new presidency, I feel a LOT LESS safer than I had a week ago. If Trump's team allows background music glitches to happen (Underwood and Cyrus), what else are they going to allow? He's firing key cybersecurity personnel and replacing them with his own team (the same ones who allowed the 2024 campaign hack? Hopefully not.) He's taking actions that could likely launch us into a larger worldwide conflict. He's made it harder for the US to fight the bird flu breakout that's currently happening in Georgia and other states. He's getting ready to expel refugees who came into our country legally and who were invited. And he's threatening to end federal support of natural disasters while instituting plans that are likely to help increase both severity and frequencies of further disasters.

But it all really hit me as early as right after Trump's inaugural speech, which was very brutal and disheartening -- even going so far as to invoke MLK Jr's name to justify his efforts to do away with anti-discrimination measures, and "manifest destiny" to support ... expansion?

Shortly after the speech, Biden got into his helicopter -- Chopper 46 or whatever they were calling it, and flew away. And I just lost it. It was like seeing the end of an era that may or may not come back. That's when I first realized ...

I already miss Biden.

Lunch Tracker -- the Pre-Update

Hello, and welcome to the Lunch Tracker. If you haven't heard of this yet, check it out, click on the link, or click the "The Lunch Tracker" in the menu at the top of this blog. In a nutshell, I've made a series of predictions as to what Trump will cause to happen during his next four years in office, and I've promised my friends in Alpharetta, GA -- if these don't come to pass, I owe them all a lunch. Will the lunch happen?

Right now the full 100 points are awarded to Trump. Should he cause one of the listed items to happen, I will deduct the pre-determined points (or a portion of them), and as long as his score remains at or above 90 points, I owe lunch.

Every time I deduct points, I will do so with a corresponding Lunch Tracker Update post. And even when it's clear that lunch is not going to happen, I will still continue to deduct points -- because, well -- I worked hard on these predictions, and I'm going to allow myself the indulgence of being right on these. Either way, I'm going to have fun with this. (Unless that one item happens where I personally get punished, or my lunch tracker is censored -- that would just royally suck.)

Also, in this pre-update, I'm adding a new rule: if I feel that my threshold needs to be loosened (that is, I feel that Trump hadn't really turned out to be that bad), then I'll loosen it. For example, I might drop it from 90 to 85. But once I do so, I won't tighten it back.

Another clarification: I haven't deducted any points yet, because -- well, Trump isn't President, yet. He needs to actually be in office, and these items need to come to pass because of his official actions as president, or from any of his appointees acting in his behalf. 

Take for example the item "Pardons self or ends all lawsuits against him." Trump is planning to appeal his felony "hush money" conviction. If he is successful in his appeal, that doesn't count, because it wouldn't be an executive action. If, on the other hand, he says "I'm no longer a felon -- I'm pardoned." Well -- that's an official act, and boom -- 1 point deducted. If Biden pardons Trump in the next few days -- doesn't count. 

Also, there may be several items that are recent concerns that I did NOT predict. For example, I did NOT predict land grabbing. If that happens, it could suck, but since I didn't predict it, I would not deduct any points.

Finally, keep in mind that I will be updating/changing the Tracker as points are deducted. So, to make sure I'm not changing the actual predictions after the fact, I'll copy those predictions at the bottom of this post, which I cannot edit without timestamps being changed. You can likewise feel free to copy/paste these predictions in a safe place to prove to yourselves that I didn't change anything.

But, to be honest, my actuarial opinion is that -- yes -- I'm very likely to NOT provide lunch, but we'll see. My conservative friends keep me around because they know I have an open mind, and if I'm wrong, I will happily accept my wrongness.

I do recognize a hope, which in Trump's "acceptance" speech early the next morning after Election Day, he stated that he was no longer going to "rally" because he isn't running again in four years, and that he was going to instead focus on helping the country. In other words, maybe he'll drop the demeaning nicknames of his opponents and his divisive rhetoric, and with humility actually LEAD our nation to true greatness? I read one article: what if Trump surprises us and acts like a real president and stops all the division, greed, and power-grabbing? If this happens, he has my full support.

Also, there happen to be some drastic agenda items of Trump and his staff I would actually support, such as the end of Daylight Saving Time, or going after high fructose corn syrup and other dangerous food additives. But keep in mind, Trump doesn't get any bonus points for doing things I like. He's starting with 100 points, and they're all his to lose.

But then again, who am I fooling? In the past two months, he's given every indication that he's going to continue doing exactly what he did in the first four years. For starters -- what has he scheduled the night before inauguration? That's right -- another freakin' "rally." Totally breaking his promise of "no more rallies." So, maybe he won't focus on actually helping us after all?

If his reaction to the LA fires is any indication, I'm not holding my breath. If we have another bad pandemic in the next four years, we are all going to be in big trouble. And I'm seeing other leading indicators from just the past two months that suggest I'll be deducting points on at least three other items, but we'll see what actually happens. Maybe when this is all over, I'll be singing Trump's praises.
